The Divisional Playoffs are in the books. The Rockies rocked the Giants' world with a 4-0 sweep to advance to the World Series, where they will face the Athletics, who dispatched the Cardinals four games to one. Rockies versus Athletics in the 2013 World Series!

The Rockies and Athletics split the first four games, with the Rockies winning Games 1 and 3 and the A's prevailing in Games 2 and 4. The Athletics are quite lucky to be tied at this point, as it took a fluky six-run uprising in the eighth inning of Game 2 to avoid what was looking like a 2-games-to-0 Rockies advantage at that point. And in Game 4 they blew a 4-0 lead before squeaking out a win in twelve innings. Meanwhile the Rockies cruised in games 1 and 3. The much-maligned Maddigan Rule again had an impact, as the Athletics ran out of pitchers in Game 4 and were forced to leave Fernando Rodney in the game for six innings, as extra inning after extra inning unfolded. Will Rodney's arm survive the ordeal? Will the Strat Gods punish the Athletics for overusing their best reliever? Stay tuned!

Department of WTF??? (Updated November 12)

How come the Giants haven't clinched their division yet?
They have, with their last five games getting them to 47-33.

What can we say about playoff seedings?
The Giants will be the number one seed, Athletics number 2, Cards number 3, and the Moe champ number 4.

Aren't the Mets getting screwed here, with the Moe Division possibly being won by a sub-.500 team?
We now know the Rockies will finish at least .500, so there's that. It is still possible for Paul to be bitter, as he could still miss the playoffs with a better record than a team that makes it.

So who's gonna win that Moe Division anyway?
Rockies magic number is down to 1. One Rockies win (they have two left, against the Cubs) or Reds loss (they have three left, against the Yankees) and that's all she wrote. But should the Rockies manage to go 0-2, and the Reds manage to go 3-0, they'd both finish at 40-40 and the Reds would win the tiebreaker. Yankees now eliminated.

What a weekend!

We drafted, we drank, and the Cardinals were first out of the gate with a great opening weekend. Here's a taste of Strato Weekend 2013:

And, sad to say, the increasing concerns about the commissioner's lucidity continued unabated:

Through all this, we somehow got a draft completed. Here's the big board (forgive the rotation of the camera; I am old and confused):
Next action: Nothing scheduled as of now, but stay tuned...
